Setting Up Solar Panels At Home

With this dilemma, I decided to look for other ways to cut back. I came across an article detailing the benefits of 'green' energy like solar, wind and hydro energy. In particular, it talked about how to make a solar panel at home. Apparently, with less effort and tools than I ever imagined possible, a power-generating system can be installed in my own backyard (or roof for that matter). This solar panel system is made up of a series of photovoltaic cell and other electrical components that convert solar energy to electricity. Thinking about how to make a solar panel made me a little nervous. Fumbling around dangerously on the roof to install a system you have no assurance of working seemed like a big price to pay. But as I read more about how a solar and photovoltaic cell works; about the investment solar power promised and the many advantages of solar energy, I became more convinced. Like any home improvement project, you can either choose to go DIY (do-it-yourself) or contract the services of a professional. If you are confident in your own technical skills, you can do the assembly yourself. A photovoltaic cell or an assembled series of it may be hard to find if you live in a relatively remote area. The good news though, is you can order them online through a number of websites or get them via eBay. The basic steps on how to make a solar panel are outlined below: 1. Gather the basic materials: solar cells, plywood, plexiglass, Rosin flux pen, a sheet of copper flashing, electric wire, tin wire, a micro-am meter, alligator clips, hot glue, solder, silicon, an electric stove, a UV protector and an electric drill. 2. According to your plan, cut the plywood and apply some UV protector on its surface. 3. Using the Rosin flux pen, trace the solder points on the solar cells to keep the wiring down. Solder all the solar cells and wiring together connect. 4. Stick solar cells to the plywood using the silicon. Drill holes on the plywood to connect the wires through to the back of the plywood and use silicon again to seal the borders. 5. Using silicon, attach the plexiglass to the border so your solar cells will be covered. 6. Seal all plywood holes with silicon. I hope these steps gave you an overview of how to make a solar panel on your own turf. Don't forget to get all the necessary permits from your power company or whoever deals with solar power building permits in your area. When you consult them, be sure to ask if there are any incentives or support they can offer for your project. For more information on how to make a solar panel, a number of resources are available online. If you still find yourself confused or unsure, the services of a professional are a phone call away. Happy building!
